Volunteers will work on water conservation work as well as educating people on importance of water in life. Poor quality of water leads to serious health problems. The creative volunteers can develop some relevant education materials and all will have opportunities to be involved with physical construction works at sites.Time permitting, volunteers may also be involved in cleaning water bodies from previously built structures. During monsoon and winter rains these structures receive silt from upstream which reduces the storage affecting ground water recharge. The work will renovate the structures for effective reserve of water.

This is a one week workcamp especially designed to experience grass roots learning of various issues and actions. Here the volunteer will have opportunities to learn rather than contribute. As it is one of the UNESCO WHV campsite, FSL India work closely with Archaeological Survey of India and the Rain Forest Research Center. The volunteers in this camp will get an opportunity to understand, to experience and be enlightened about the diverse bio-diversity (flora and fauna) of these majestic and magnificient Rain forests. Work at the camp will comprise of various activities like aeuro( Raising awareness to conserve the natural resources and tree plantation, help remove weeds and other threatining species etc. The volunteers will also get to explore the local cultural sites in around the Western Ghats.
Accomodation & food:
In a rented Guest house or Hostel, with shared rooms. Accommodation can vary a lot in our camps from youth hostels, guest houses, lodges etc. The accommodation will be simple but comfortable and clean, so be prepared to live a simple lifestyle during these two weeks. Food: Indian food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Filtered water is always available for drinking purposes.

Agumbe is a small village is interspersed by dense forest and lies in Malnad region in Shimoga (district) of Karnataka state and is one of the most scenic places on the Western Ghats of the Southern India. It is surrounded by rich biodiversity and receives the second highest annual rainfall in the country. This rainforests surrounding Agumbe sustain a diverse ecosystem of mammals, birds, and reptiles, including the elusive king cobra. Interestingly, despite the high density of king cobras in the region, incidents of snake-human conflict are rare.The Western Ghats are internationally recognized as the worldaeuros eight aeurooehottest hotspotsaeuro of bio-diversity. It is a region of immense global importance for the conservation of biological diversity, besides containing areas of high geological,cultural and aesthetic values. The forests of the Western Ghats include some of the best representatives of non-equatorial tropical evergreen forests in the world. Leisure: Weekends are free The volunteers will not work on Saturdays and Sundays. They can plan their free time accordingly. The camp leaders are there to provide you with the necessary information about interesting excursions and trips around the camp site. To promote intercultural learning, the team leaders will arrange visits to places of interest, weddings, festivals, local house visits, interaction with local youth etc. The local community would be more than happy to welcome you. Please use this opportunity to exchange experiences, to learn more about other social, cultural and political living conditions and to show them, in return, yours. In order to promote that, we will have a special cultural evening, when the volunteers will be able to present their countries and interact with the locals.
