Volunteers will prepare together with farmers of the village, nurseries of fertilizing and forest species, this to prepare the coming season of reforestation. During the camp, volunteers will make farmers aware of the ravages of anarchic bush fire of which the projects of reforestation already realized by ASTOVOT were victims. The volunteers will also plant some trees. Volunteers will organize activities on environmental education for children in order to make the work already done last forever.
The activities:
Filling of sachets, putting nurseries in the sachets and watering them, land clearance, planting the seedlings.
Volunteers will work 5 hours per day. They are free in the afternoons when they can deal with cultural activities with the villagers.

GAPE is a village located at approximately 75km of Kpalimé and is located in the prefecture of Zio. Gapé centre is an agglomeration gathering more than 130 villages. Gapé Akpakpedomé is one of the villages whose dynamism of their "Clubs of the mothers" is to be encouraged. These women have self-organised due to the social and economic hardships they face in their daily lives. They have already started a village "savings bank" and want to create green areas for their daily needs and financial autonomy. ASTOVOT wants to support and accompany this Women Group aiming at an increased women empowerment. Gapé centre is well-known in Togo for its large plantations of palm trees which today are unfortunately cut down on a daily basis, due to the effects of poverty, for the production of a local alcoholic drink called "Togo gin". Our action at the village of Gapé Akpakpedomé would be also an action of environmental education for an increased awareness raising of the natural environment. A welcoming village community awaits you.

« I can say that the best things about the workcamp and this whole experience were the chance of making a real difference to the lives of very needy children. This is an extremely valuable project where volunteers can have a massive impact. Also the possibility of learning a huge amount about a country so different from our own. I learnt ten times as much by carrying out a workcamp than I would ever do backpacking. »
