This project is organised in Partnership with local early childhood education centres after 2 years of implementing pilot project to support the initiative of local community members to provide early childhood education services. The main goal of the project is to help children develop cognitively and socially introduce them to the school setting and prepare them for Primary school education. Through early childhood education, children gain long-lasting academic and social benefits that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Work:
Academic skills development - To assist Children to develop academic skills on literacy, mathematics, science and even social studies.
Physical Development - To support the children to learn about moving - demonstrates basic gross motor skills, demonstrates basic fine motor skills.
Cognitive Development - To assist children learn about the world - sustains attention, understands how objects can be used, shows a beginning understanding of cause and effect, shows a beginning understanding that things can be grouped, uses problem solving strategies, engages in pretend play.
Social development - To support the children about self and others - trusts known, caring adults, regulates own behavior, plays with other children, learns to be a member of a group, and uses personal care skills.
Language development - To learn about communicating - develops receptive language, develops expressive language, participates in conversations, understands and uses words, enjoys books and being read to, shows an awareness of pictures and print, experiments with drawing and writing.
Leisure:
Possibilities are overnight in Zanzibar or Bagamoyo (Historical sites, Beach/Swimming, Eco/Cultural tour), Dar es Salaam (Sightseeing, Beach/Swimming), Mikumi National Park (Wild life safari).
Accommodation:
Volunteers will be accommodated in the local Youth hostel. 2-4 volunteers will share room. Participants will be required to carry own mosquito nets. Kitchen staff will be available through out to support volunteers in preparing the meals.
Requirements:
No special or particular expertise/skills required, however a potential volunteer should be; open minded and independent, Interest in working with Children, Able to work under limited resources and less supervision. Skills on psychosocial support and guidance, interactive games, handling children issues and counselling stand an added advantage.

The fee also contributes to the running of activities taking place during the work camp and communication prior to the camp. Volunteers wishing to arrive earlier or staying longer at UVIKIUTA Hostel will contribute €15 per day to cover the cost of meals and accommodation.

It aims to ccontribute to the empowerment of young women and women through improved educational facilities. Poor education facilities including the learning environment has been one of the factors contributing to poor performance hence hinder the possibility of managing development challenges like unequal rights, a lack of awareness of rights, low literacy rates, dependency, limited access to education and opportunities to earn a living, and poverty. Your time, skills, and ideas can help build solidarity and support for young women and men of in their pursuit of healthy and sustainable livelihoods.
Work:
Volunteers will be involved in renovation of school buildings and painting. In supporting of the greening school campaign volunteers will participate as well to provide garbage separation facilities and composting. Depending on the weather; volunteers will also plant trees and beautification activities in the school.
Leisure:
Possibilities are so many including spending time in the beach swimming, tour to various Islands, Eco and cultural tourism (Including spice tour), historical sites etc.
Accommodation:
Volunteers will be accommodated in the community residential house. 2-4 volunteers will share room. Participants will be required to carry own mosquito nets. Kitchen staff will be available through out to support volunteers in preparing the meals.

No special or particular expertise/skills required, however a potential volunteer should be; open minded and independent, Interest in outdoor activities, manual work, construction, painting and Nature. Volunteer should be as well interested in culture and work under limited resources.
Location:
The Work camp will take place in Pemba Island. It will take about 6 hours by boat to rich the Island. There are comfortable boats connecting Dar es Salaam and Pemba via Zanzibar. However they are not daily. Volunteers will travel as one team from Dar es Salaam after the orientation.
Participation Fee:
International participants are required to pay an extra fee of 250 Euros. The fee covers pick up from the airport or bus station upon arrival in Tanzania, Orientation at the UVIKIUTA Youth Hostel, food and accommodation during the work camp. The fee also contributes to the running of activities taking place during the work camp and communication prior to the camp.
